A blade that suits their mowing style and the usual vegetation they mow. A blade that sings for them when scything!
Phil has been mowing with Luxors almost as long as he has been scything.
He first won the Quality Cup at the West Country Scythe Festival (2008) mowing with an 85cm Luxor on a home made snath. He got his first Luxor 90cm from a pile of “odds and ends” that Simon Fairlie was clearing out at a subsequent Scythe Festival. Cleaned and peened, it and it’s successor have been central to his early meadow mowing ever since.

The Luxor is a fine blade for mowing meadows, soft weeds, lawns and garden work. Slightly heavier then the Profisense Meadow blade, it is more forgiving of coarser mowing. The fairly flat body of the blade and it’s overall shape encourage an efficient style of mowing, with relatively little lift of the blade at the start (just enough lift in the heel to “introduce” the tip into the standing grass correctly) followed by a flat, efficient cutting arc across the stroke.
