Payment and Delivery Options

There are many ways to buy from Scythe Cymru, including in person and mail order options.

Visiting us to buy a scythe

You can opt to collect a pre-paid order placed through our webshop.

Select “local pickup” at the checkout and we will get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient time. You are welcome to phone or email for advice before purchase.

Please Note, orders must be collected within 28 days of purchase.

Uncollected orders after this time will be cancelled and refunded.

Equipment is also available for sale at the end of scythe courses.

Course participants can buy a blade that has been prepared and edge peened by Philip at no extra charge.

Can’t get on a scythe course but want a bit more help when choosing and setting up a scythe?

During a Fitting and Advice session we will spend time with you discussing your needs, then fit a scythe to you and give basic instruction on use so you’ll be ready to mow when you get home. We can accept payment by cash or card.

Mail Order

Complete Scythe Kits and parts can be ordered through our online shop for delivery.

Payment can be made by credit / debit card. Alternatively, you can opt to pay by bank transfer (details will be emailed to you when you check out).

For mainland UK addresses, rates are as follows.

  • Very small parcels…£2.50
  • Small parcels…£5.50
  • Medium (parcels inc blades)…£12.00
  • Large (parcels including snaths)…£20.00

Postage to Remote Postcodes (eg Highlands and Islands)

Post and packing is the same as mainland UK except for parcels containing a snath. These cost an additional £5 due to surcharges made by carriers on long parcels.

Postage to Northern Ireland

Costs have increased markedly post Brexit. We are currently reviewing prices and we will try and keep them as low as possible.

Royal Mail parcels are the same as mainland UK but there is an additional cost of £6 on the postage of medium parcels (most blades) and £10 on parcels containing a snath.

Please allow 7 – 10 days for delivery from time of ordering, especially during peak season (late May – late August) when we are processing a large number or orders.

In the interest of saving van journeys, parcels are collected from us twice a week, usually Monday and Thursday. Orders need to be received a minimum of one day in advance of the collection days to allow time for packing.

Additional Shipping Information
  • Small Parcels are sent via Royal Mail.
  • Medium and Large Parcels are sent via APC 24 hour service or UPS (Highlands and Islands). Rakes are sent via Parcel Force 48hr service.

Parcel containing a snath (scythe handle) are very long. They cannot travel on conveyor belts at the courier depots so incur an additional Manual Handling Fee.

For this reason we have to make an additional post and packaging charge on top of our usual rates.

No additional postage charge is made for 2nd and subsequent kits in the same order up to a maximum of four. For orders of four kits or more please contact me for a postage quote.
