Made especially for us using repurposed timber, each one is unique! Includes a pilot hole suitable for our standard peening jig and an antique nail for storing the spare jig cap. Peening jig / anvil not included.

Description
To peen successfully it is essential to have a secure mounting for you peening jig or anvil.
This Peening Guide covers some of the options. But if you don’t have the time or space to make your own solution, you can buy a simple bench from us.
These peening benches are made from repurposed timber, so each one is unique!
There is a pre-drilled pilot hole, suitable for mounting our standard peening jig, which can be adapted if you want to use a different jig or an anvil (see FAQ right/below).
Each bench also features an antique nail for storing you spare peening cap whilst you are at work.
FAQs
A peening bench should be sized such that, when seated on the bench, the top of your knees are approximately level with the top of the anvil part of the jig or anvil you are using to peen.
This is so the blade can be supported by your knees as you peen.
We supply two sizes of bench.
- The SMALL is suitable for people up to about 5’8″. This is the size for you if you mow with a size 2 snath.
- The LARGE is suitable for people taller then about 5’8″. This is the size for you if you mow with a size 3 snath.
If you are very short and find your knees are on the low side when seated, you can rest your feet on blocks of wood to raise them.
If you are very tall and don’t want to bend your legs so much to lower your knees, the whole bench can be placed on blocks.
I am afraid we can not take requests for a specific bench, beyond the choice of SMALL or LARGE.

No, the bench does not come with any peening equipment.

The bench can be used with any of the jigs and anvils we supply.
The pre-drilled pilot hole is sized to fit our standard peening jig.
To use the bench with the Fux Deluxe Peening Jig you will need to add a counter sink to the pilot hole, to accommodate the flange at the top of this jig’s spike.
To use it with the Fux Deluxe Peening Anvil or the Picard Peening Anvil you may need to widen the pilot hole a little.
- Delivery to a mainland UK address is £15.
- Delivery to a Highlands and Islands or offshore address is £20. You can find a list of affected postcodes here.
We cannot pack a peening bench into the same parcel as a scythe set or larger pieces of scythe equipment.
Therefore, in most cases the delivery cost for the peening bench will be in addition to other items you order.
However, if you just need a few small items these can usually be combined into one parcel. The checkout will still add the “small parcel” delivery charge, but I will refund this to you if we can combine your parcels.
