March Newsletter from Scythe Cymru

March marks 20 years since we moved to Dyfed Permaculture Farm.

We are very grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on this beautiful land and, in the process, get to know it intimately.

It also marks 20 years since the scythe became an increasingly significant part of our lives

20 at 20% off!

To mark the occasion, each month of the scything season we’ll be offering 20% off of one of our favourite scything tools, to the first 20 people to use the promotional code.

Look out for the first promotional code at the start of April!

I’ll also be sharing some heritage images. First off, here’s Phil (2011) carrying hay before we discovered the “dumpy sack” method (and whilst his beard was still black!).

In this increasingly popular workshop, Phil will teach you all about peening then guide you through the peening of your own blade, so you can take it home sharp and ready to mow. Suitable for those new to peening or to anyone who would like to refine and deepen their skills.

Scythe Season 2026

Spring price rises are expected

Due to increased materials and running costs, our suppliers have to increase their prices to us. We absorbed the increase last year, but will have to make a small increase this year.

Prices charges will happen when our deliveries come in at the end of the month. So if you’ve got your eye on something in the shop, buy by the end of a March to get it at 2025 prices.
