This edge guard is a good alternative to the standard red plastic guard the blades ship with from the factory.
It is easier to put on and off, so there is less risk of cuts when using it. It is reinforced with a steel spine so is more durable.

Orders are shipped as one continuous length. The guard is easily cut to the lengths you require using secateurs or similar between the steel hoops.

Generally we store our blades without edge guards on as they can trap moisture and promote rusting.
If carefully stored eg hung on a wall, any hazard from the exposed edge can be safely managed.
However, there are times when it is useful to put a guard on your blade edge eg transporting your scythe in public, volunteer groups, going to scythe festivals!
